About SEIJIARIE
Though ballerinas' tutus or Marie Antoinette's extravagant costumes do not much draw our attention, our designs are often inspired by ballet and 18th-century aristocratic culture.
Individual style, attitude, are paired with a universal spiritual vitality. Costume and its details serve mere to express this.
What inspires us about ballet is that it is full of grace and lightness, but these are effects that can be created only with discipline and hard training.
We are also inspired by courtly 18th Century dresses like the robe à la Français, which evokes feelings of freedom and ease, while simultaneously retaining a gentle dignity.
True style must reflect a wearer's own heart and soul.
We strive always to infuse our clothes with grace, ease, and wit.
We are always pleased to provide you simple and classical clothes of quality, reflecting personal style over the centuries.
Designer's Words
When I was a child, I liked to draw, and often copied works of Italian Renaissance artists I admire.
Later on, I studied ballet, which has also a great influence on me both technically and mentally.
Since I grew up surrounded by art, it was only natural for me to grow up wishing to create.
After I graduated from university, I immersed myself in the study of design: European historical dresses, folk costumes, and the beauties of French decor.
Recently, I have begun to realize I am drawn to these designs not merely for their own intrinsic beauty, but also because they are expressive, rich in drama, emotion, evoking the real lives that of real historical people.
Each design is a jumping-off point for imaging a specific person, the texture of her life and times, the world she lives in.
Currently, as a fashion designer, I create in the hope that my work will inspire similar reveries.
I design clothes while thinking of those who will wear them and how they will feel in them.
For example, I may design a simple and vividly coloured dress, imagining a young ballerina with a secret ambition to bask in the limelight, or I may create a holiday tartan dress, imagining a woman who works in the City in London, but returns home in the Highlands in winter to share a jolly, warm, and relaxing time with her family.
Stories and dramas are at the heart of all my designs, for text and textile have always been closely interlinked. Stories, plays, and histories all nourish the soul: my goal is to enrich people's lives and minds with my creations.
I am most delighted when my designs not only give wearers a stylish silhouette, but also reflect and enhance the way they live: this is all part of a joyful life.
